Day 2 – Place for the ceremony

After we got engaged, one of the first things we did was say “Well, we pretty much have to get married at [this venue], right?” It’s a venue in our neighborhood that we both love, especially for our wedding ceremony, because it is an old art-deco style theater. Other than weddings, the venue hosts a lot of concerts and benefits. It was also involved in the day that Mr. Rosie and I first met! (As an aside, neither Mr. Rosie nor I are religious in any way, so we didn’t even entertain the idea of a church-like setting.)

Our ceremony will take place on the stage of the theater, and it is going to be gorgeous! Sort of like this, but with fewer people in the wedding party, and not nearly as dramatic or as big of a curtain. :) But there will be star-shaped paper lanterns hanging from the ceiling!

About Rosie

Hello! I'm Rosie, a feminist who is engaged to be married on Sept. 9, 2011. While planning our wedding day I've run into all kinds of situations and dilemmas and ideas that I want to share with all the brides-to-be out there, especially those who are trying to plan a wedding that is more on the non-traditional side. This site is intended to document my experiences and inspirations as I go through this process, as well as how being feminist and married works for me once the wedding is over. I welcome any and all feedback, ideas and guest posts as well. Just send me an e-mail at rosiered23 (at) sparecandy (dot) com!
