When things get in the way of wedding planning …

I haven’t abandoned this blog, despite my lack of posts recently! It’s just that sometimes wedding planning goes through a lull period, and we are in one right now. And I’ve become busy doing other things … like opening an Etsy shop. Because, ya know, planning a wedding and working full-time and running or contributing to four websites and just living life isn’t hectic enough!

One of the centerpieces listed on The Sunday Flower Etsy shop

So, I’ve mentioned a couple times on this blog that we are making paper flowers to use for decoration at our reception. (And I do mean “we”: Mr. Rosie has made just as many, if not more, flowers than I have for the wedding.) The flowers are really lovely, and there are so many uses for them that I decided to make a bunch of different arrangements and bouquets and sell them on Etsy. My shop is called The Sunday Flower, and I’m hoping people will be interested in using these paper flower for their own weddings. The best part about them is how completely customizable they are. And they can be used for centerpieces (like we’re doing), bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, decoration, place card holders, cupcake toppers, and really anything you can think of. Plus they will last a long time, giving you great keepsakes from the wedding, and they’re perfect for anyone who has allergies! Of course, they can be used in any setting — I have vases of them all over our house, and they’re really perfect for home decor. They look great on an office desk, too. I’d love if anyone would check out the site, give me feedback on it, and if you like what you see, spread the word!

Day 28 -Who will walk you down the aisle?

We aren’t having an aisle, per se; we’re each walking out from the sides of a stage, with our ceremony taking place on the stage. But if we did have an aisle, I honestly don’t know what I would do. If anyone walked me down an aisle, it would be both my parents, not just my dad. But. I’m 34 years old, and it feels weird to me to think about having my parents walk me down the aisle, as if I’m still some really young woman that they’re “giving away,” even though I know that’s not how my parents would see it. Also, I really don’t like the idea of Mr. Rosie “waiting” at the altar for me, so to speak, so if we did have an aisle, he would walk down it, too. Maybe we would have walked down it together, who knows. However, we don’t have to worry about, which thrills me, and I love that we’re going to be “entering” the ceremony at the same time, from opposite sides, and meeting in the middle.

Day 25 – Honeymoon

I don’t think we’re going to have the funds to go on a honeymoon right after our wedding. We are taking the following week off work from our respective jobs, regardless, just to have a breather. Maybe we’ll take a short trip somewhere affordable that week, who knows. It would be last-minute, but it’d probably be fine. If we could go on a “proper” honeymoon right away, we’d like to go to Disney World. So that’s where we’re aiming to go, whenever we get around to it.

Day 22 -wedding topper

I assume this means wedding cake topper? That’s what I’m going to go with. I’ve posted these before, but we have two cake toppers at the moment, and will probably get two more.

This one will be on our cake:

And this one will be on one of our three cupcake stands (we still need to get two more toppers for the other stands):

Day 21 – Wedding Cakes

For our cakes, we’re doing cupcakes and a cake … a rice kripsies cake. I think we’ll have three or four flavors of cupcakes. We’re thinking red velvet, chocolate, vanilla and maybe one more. With the cake, we’re going to do square layers like this, but for one layer we’re going to use chocolate cereal to make it brown, and for the other layers either a berry cereal for red, or food coloring, and a light blue layer, likely with food coloring. We’re going to decorate it somehow … maybe with some chocolate drizzle, maybe something else. I can’t wait!
